Alright, let’s just be clear I was asked to write these blogs. And I reluctantly said yes. I didn’t quite understand why people would want to read the lyrics of my twisted mind. So don’t think that I’m writing these because I wanted to brag. However, I will most definitely boast when I say my life is awesome right now! I’m so grateful!

Seriously, it’s the night before the performance. Less than 24 hours away I will be on Hard Rock Café Times Square’s stage and I am buzzing.

In my quest to be prepared I dropped by the Hard Rock today. I can’t believe I’m going to be singing in a venue with so much history! Today I learned it used to be called the Paramount Theatre before it became Hard Rock. They had the premiere for the Elvis film “Love me Tender” there. Elvis! The Beatles performed there and it was the spot where Bob Dylan was first introduced to John Lennon. Jazz icons like Ella Fitzgerald performed there and even better… Sarah Vaughan; one of my true favorite artists of all time and definitely my funny valentine.

In more recent years since it became the Hard Rock Café, they’ve had Jon Bon Jovi, Nelly, Paramore and Natasha Beddingfield have performing. To think that in just 15 hours I’m going to be sweating and singing in the same space that those cats did! I can’t sleep! I just can’t! Maybe some musical ghosts from Paramount past will visit me in my dressing room. The phantom of the Hard Rock Café… this phantom just wants it to be the Paramount again! Did that make any sense? It did to me.

Anyway, sleepless when I should be sleeping… but nights like these cause one to reminisce. A year ago I was taking the bus in Los Angeles… trying to make it to my auditions on time on the metro and having to get rid of half my items at the register in Whole Foods because I had no money. Now I’m staying at the W hotel in New York City and getting to rock out on a REAL STAGE! I feel like Elvis in Jailhouse Rock. Well, except for the fact that I’m neither in prison nor have I been. But you get the gist.

I’m in a New York Nikko state of mind.
